I really enjoyed your take on Murasaki's inner narration--snarky but also a little inclined to be too serious. Your voice definitely suits the understated tone of the fic. I also particularly liked your rendition of my favorite line in the fic (the one where Sei Shonagon bursts out saying, "How else are we to express ourselves?").

You're welcome! I'm glad their dynamic worked; it was my favorite part of the story. I like how despite their professed dissimilarities (and Murasaki's snarky, "It was only natural that people should contrast us, though I found it depressingly obvious"), they connect on writing, which is deeply important to them both.
